Council to provide free parking over Easter Bank Holiday

Published: Wednesday, 23 March 2022

Havering Council is to provide free parking in all council car parks across the 2022 Easter Bank Holiday weekend.

This is to help support local businesses in our high streets and town centres.

Parking fees will be suspended between Good Friday, 15 April and Monday 18 April 2022 inclusive.

This is in addition to the free parking on Sundays already in place, which will continue.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“We want to do as much as we can to help both residents and our local businesses continue to recover from the effects of Covid 19 restrictions.

“Free parking in our car parks over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend will help give our local shops and restaurants another boost.

“The retail and hospitality sector suffered a lot because of lockdowns and we know that they are still finding their feet.

“We want to encourage residents to shop and eat out locally.

"This will give our Havering businesses another shot in the arm after what has been a challenging couple of years.”

The suspension of parking fees only applies to Council-run car parks. Charges remain as usual for on-street parking bays.
