New guidelines have been introduced to the planning application process in Havering.
Residents and developers will need to refer to the updated validation lists, which explains what supporting information will be needed for their planning application.
These documents, introduced on the 12 September 2022, are required for any new planning application and will help avoid any unnecessary delays to planning permission.
The lists are divided into two sections, national and local. The national requirements include policy changes and amendments to legislation, are set by central government and are the same across all Local Planning Authorities in England.
The local validation requirements relate specifically to planning applications submitted to Havering Council, and have been updated following the adoption of the Local Plan last year.
It also provides advice on the detail and scope of that information, dependent on the scale and nature of the proposal.
Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council said:
“There have been significant changes to planning policy with the adoption of the Havering Local Plan in 2021 and following the consultation earlier this year, the validation lists have been updated to reflect the latest guidance which is relevant to homeowners and developers throughout the borough.
“It is vital that accurate information is supplied as part of any planning application and the updated Validation lists and guidance aims to support people through the process, make sure their application is valid and help them to avoid delays to the planning process.”
