Havering Council is teaming up with local partners to deliver extra cost of living support at a special event.
The Hubs+ one-stop shop will take place at the Community Hub at Harold Hill Library on Saturday 20 May 2023 from 10am to 3pm.
It builds on the already successful Havering Hubs that have helped provide local services to visitors since opening in Harold Hill and Rainham.
Available for the first time on a Saturday, the event will make it even easier for residents to access cost of living support, benefits advice, money management and physical and mental health services.
The Council will be joined by community, voluntary and charity organisations on the day to provide activities for children, advice and guidance in relation to cost of living issues, employment and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) courses.
The popular Community Food Shop will be also be available, where for just £5 you can receive over £20 worth of groceries – choosing from a variety of foods including meat, dairy, fresh fruit and veg as well as non-perishable, chilled and frozen foods.
Everyone is welcome and there is no need to book. Residents can just come along to Harold Hill Library on the day.
Councillor Paul Middleton, Cabinet Member for Corporate, Culture and Leisure, said:
“The ‘Community Hub +’ aims to support individuals and families who may not have had the opportunity to visit our Community Hubs before.
“With the help of our borough partners, we are inviting everyone to join us and learn more about how we can assist our residents with the increased cost of living we are experiencing.
“Please do come along on the day, we are hoping to have something for everyone. It will also be an opportunity to come together as a community and look out for each other.”
