The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Stephanie Nunn raised the official ‘999’ flag at Havering Town Hall in Romford on Friday 8 September 2023 to mark Emergency Services Day on 9 September 2023.

The ceremony paid tribute to those who work and volunteer across the NHS and emergency services across the UK.

A two-minute silence was also held to remember the emergency service workers who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Guests included Council staff and serving personnel of the Metropolitan Police who joined borough representatives alongside the Mayor of Havering and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Ray Morgon.

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Stephanie Nunn, said:

“Emergency Services Day gives us the chance to show our support for the selfless men and women who go above and beyond to protect others.

“Our emergency services are an example to us all, and I would like to thank them for their continued hard work in protecting and serving our borough.”
