A serial burglar and shoplifter has been jailed for 12 weeks after he breached his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) in Harold Hill.

Burglar jailed
Bradley Thomas

Bradley Thomas, 37, of no fixed address, was sentenced at Barkingside Magistrates Court last week.

It comes after he was found to be breaching the conditions of his Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).

The CBO was granted in November 2021 following multiple burglary and shoplifting offences by Thomas.

It prevents him from entering the Co-Op and Boots stores in Farnham Road, as well as having possession of any drugs paraphernalia or open bottles of alcohol on him.

It is part of ongoing action via Havering Council and the Police’s Clear Hold Build initiative in Harold Hill where the local police teams and council officers met with Farnham Road

hopkeepers Association, who had raised concerns about a rise in shoplifting in the area.

Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“This is another great example of Council officers and police working together with the community under the Clear, Hold, Build initiative.

"This helps towards preventing crime and anti-social behaviour in our borough.

“This should send out a clear message that we won’t tolerate anti-social behaviour like this.

"It also shows that anyone who has already been prosecuted and breaches the conditions, will face further punishment.

“We will continue to act and talk to residents and local businesses, so we can help them feel safer in their community.”

Inspector Charlie Routley, Police Tactical Lead for Clear Hold Build in Havering, said:

“This is a fantastic result by my team and further cements our commitment to apprehending those responsible of committing crime within Harold Hill as part of our ongoing Clear Hold Build initiative.

“It also demonstrates how vital the use of Criminal Behaviour Orders can be, in dealing with prolific offenders such as Mr Thomas and swiftly dealing with them in a positive way.

“This should send a clear message to those individuals who go to Harold Hill solely with the intent to commit crime.

We will utilise tactics such as the use of CBOs to ensure they are held to account for their actions.”
