Mayor Cllr O'Sullivan and mayoress

Reflecting on my term as Mayor of Havering.

As my time as the Mayor of Havering came to a close on Wednesday 21 May 2025, I find myself reflecting on a journey filled with meaningful experiences, inspiring people, and an unwavering sense of community.

Serving in this role has been both an honour and a privilege, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported me along the way.

Throughout my tenure, I have had the opportunity to collaborate with incredible individuals and organisations that help to drive positive change in our borough.

From championing local initiatives to celebrating the success of community projects, each milestone has been a testament to the resilience and dedication of the people of Havering.

One of the greatest joys of this role has been witnessing the true spirit of togetherness that defines our community.

Whether through charitable events, civic engagements, or moments of unity in times of challenge, Havering has proven repeatedly that its strength lies in its people.

No journey is ever undertaken alone, and I owe a great debt of gratitude to those who have supported me throughout this term.

To my wife Susan the Mayoress, my colleagues Councillor Bryan Vincent and Councillor Paul Middleton, my mayoral support team, The Reverend Canon Ken Wylie and all who have worked tirelessly to serve our borough, I extend my sincere thanks.

Your dedication has made an immense impact, and I am proud to have stood alongside you.

Above all, I want to thank the wonderful residents of Havering, the heart and soul of this community.

Your voices, ideas, and commitment to making our borough a better place have been truly inspiring. It is because of you that Havering continues to thrive even during the financial crisis we are facing.

I am grateful for every conversation, collaboration, and shared vision we have embraced together.

One of the most rewarding aspects of being Mayor has been engaging with the outstanding organisations that uplift and support our borough.

Whether working with charities, businesses, cultural groups, or community initiatives, I have witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion that drive Havering forward.

To the organisations that work tirelessly to improve lives, create opportunities, and foster a sense of belonging, I extend my deepest appreciation.

Your contributions have enriched our borough in immeasurable ways, and I am grateful for the partnerships and friendships forged along the way.

As I step away from my role as Mayor, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and hope for the future of Havering.

Our borough is filled with potential, and I have no doubt that its people will continue to drive progress, innovation, and unity.

I encourage my successor to embrace the privilege of serving this remarkable community with passion and purpose.

The journey ahead is one of opportunity, and I have every confidence that Havering will continue to thrive in the years to come.

To all who have been part of this journey. Thank you. It has been an honour to serve, and I will always cherish the moments, memories, and people who have made my term as Mayor of Havering truly unforgettable.
