Havering Council’s Cabinet Members will this week consider the proposal for two new village green spaces for the community.
The two new locations are on land at:
- Platford Green and Tyle Green, including land along Garland Way (Emerson Park Ward)
- Tees Drive and Priory Road including Carter’s Brook (Gooshays ward)
If approved, the new additions will allow residents to enjoy outdoor activities, foster a sense of community and well-being ‘in perpetuity’ which means the sites will be protected from development for all future generations.
If successful, the Council-owned land will join the five village greens dedicated last year, which continue to be cherished spaces for relaxation, recreation and community events.
These included:
- Fleet Close, Upminster
- Hitchin Close, Harold Hill
- Wennington Green, Wennington
- Gooshays Green, Harold Hill
- Dover’s Corner, Rainham
Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:
“We are very happy to see these new village greens being brought forward for Cabinet to consider.
“If approved, they will serve as vital community hubs that will contribute to the health and happiness of our residents.
“We continue our work and our commitment to our residents to protect our much-loved and used green spaces, and to see these areas flourish.
“We will have further announcements to make about new village green sites, creating yet another summer of celebrations for 2025.”
