The collaboration that is working to provide residents with more access to arts and culture across the borough, has been granted approval from the Council’s Cabinet to apply for charity status.
Currently, Havering London, a company wholly owned by the Council, would have even more opportunity to secure external funding that only charitable organisations can access.
Any new funding would build on the £1.6m of investment already secured to bring to life Havering’s new Cultural Strategy, 'A Good Life'.
David Shearing, Director of Havering London, said:
"Applying to become a registered charity marks a new chapter for Havering London.
“It enables us to access further funding to support projects for communities of the borough and offer greater involvement from local people.
“It strengthens our ability to champion culture across Havering."
