Platford Green and Tyle Green residents celebrate their village green dedication

The community of Platford Green and Tyle Green, Emerson Park, celebrated the dedication of its new village green on Sunday 20 July 2025.

Village green status ensures that Platford Green and Tyle Green will remain undeveloped in perpetuity; safeguarding the area for the enjoyment of future generations.

The first of five more village green dedications for this year, Platford Village Green joins the five village greens dedicated last year at Fleet Close, Upminster, Wennington Green, Wennington Village, Hitchin Close, Harold Hill, Gooshays Drive, Harold Hill and Dover’s Corner at New Zealand Way, Rainham.

The event marks another milestone in the borough’s commitment to enhancing green spaces for all residents and featured speeches by Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, Councillor David Godwin, Emerson Park Ward Councillor, and Councillor Graham Williamson, Cabinet Lead for Development and Regeneration.

Councillor Morgon, said:

“I am so pleased to celebrate this first milestone, as we deliver on our promise to our residents to protect these much-loved green spaces.

“By the end of the summer, we will have ten village greens in Havering for residents and visitors to enjoy.”

The formal dedication ceremony was a community celebration and was followed by refreshments on the new village green, courtesy of the local ward councillors, Councillor David Godwin and Councillor Laurance Garrard.

The second of five village green dedications for 2025 will take place on Saturday 26 July, 2pm, at Priory Green, Tees Drive and Priory Road, Harold Hill.
