Residents are invited to pick up a free Energy Saving Helper Kit this December, as part of Havering Council’s ongoing work to support households with rising energy costs.
The giveaways will take place on:
- Tuesday 16 December, Harold Hill Library Hub, 11am-3pm
- Wednesday 17 December, Low Energy Visitor Centre, 10am-3pm
The kits include simple, practical items that can help reduce energy use at home, such as energy-saving lightbulbs, a nightlight, a timer switch, recycling bags and a printed booklet of hints and tips.
Residents can also sign up for a free Energy Doctor home visit, where trained advisors can install radiator foils and draught proofing, identify ways to bring down bills, and offer personalised guidance on keeping warm and well this winter.
The Energy Doctors programme forms part of the Council’s wider cost-of-living support offer, helping residents manage household pressures and improve energy efficiency.
Councillor Ray Morgon, Leader of Havering Council, said:
“We know many residents are still feeling the impact of rising energy costs. These kits provide some simple tools that can help straight away, but they also offer a gateway to more tailored support.
Our Energy Doctors are already making a real difference for households across Havering, and I would encourage anyone who is struggling to come along, pick up a kit and sign up for a home visit. This is about practical help that residents can benefit from immediately.”
To ensure the Council can understand who is benefiting from the scheme, visitors will be asked to share basic information such as postcode, age bracket and ethnicity. This data will only be used to monitor uptake and ensure support reaches the communities who need it most.
Residents do not need to book in advance and kits will be available while stocks last.
