Havering Council’s Cabinet will this week review a proposal to make a Compulsory Purchase Order (CPO) for land at Bridge Close, Romford, as part of plans to deliver a major regeneration scheme.
The CPO would enable the Council to acquire all of the land needed to progress the redevelopment, which aims to create a new homes, a new health centre, improved public spaces, better connectivity to the town centre, and a new 3-form entry primary school.
The proposal supports the Council’s commitment to revitalising the area and unlocking opportunities for growth and investment.
If approved, the CPO will help ensure the delivery of a high-quality development that benefits local people and businesses.
The Cabinet meeting will take place on Wednesday 10 December 2025 at 7pm, where Cabinet members will consider the recommendation to proceed with the making of the CPO.
Councillor Graham Williamson, Cabinet Member for Development and Regeneration, said:
"The Bridge Close regeneration scheme is a key part of our vision to transform Romford into a thriving, modern town centre.
“Making this Compulsory Purchase Order is an important step to ensure we can deliver much-needed homes, improved public spaces, and better connections for our community.
“If approved, this project will unlock significant investment and create a place where residents and businesses can flourish."
