Havering Council has launched a new borough-wide approach to supporting residents’ health, wellbeing and independence through prevention, early help and strong community partnerships.

The Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service will be delivered by Tapestry Care UK through its community hubs in Rainham, Harold Hill and Hornchurch, ensuring support is accessible, welcoming and embedded within local neighbourhoods.

A key feature of the Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service is the introduction of a single referral system, creating a clear and coordinated system to support both residents and professionals.

This approach unites voluntary and community sector organisations to deliver joined-up support, minimise duplication, and ensure no resident falls through the gaps.

The Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service will support residents with a wide range of issues that impact wellbeing, including loneliness and isolation, mental health, long-term neurodiverse conditions, caring responsibilities, financial pressures and access to food and community support.

By focusing on prevention rather than crisis, the service aims to help residents stay well and independent for longer, while easing pressure on statutory and acute services.

Councillor Gillian Ford, Cabinet Member for Adults and Wellbeing, said:

“Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service represents a major step forward in how we support our residents.

"By commissioning Tapestry to deliver this service through community hubs in Rainham, Harold Hill and Hornchurch, we are putting support where it belongs, at the heart of our communities.

"The new single referral system will make it easier for people to access help early, while our partnership with the voluntary sector ensures services are shaped by lived experience and local knowledge.

"This is about prevention, dignity and building stronger, more resilient neighbourhoods across Havering.”

The Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service approach reflects the Council’s commitment to reducing health inequalities, strengthening community capacity and creating a more integrated, preventative system of support.

Further information about Living Well Community Wellness and Empowerment Service and how residents can access support will be shared through local community hubs and partner organisations in the coming weeks.
