Havering Council joined partners to celebrate the achievements of young people in the borough at a special awards ceremony event last night (12 February 2026).
As part of the success of the My Ends Partnership, the event, at the City Pavilion, Collier Row Road, the Council’s Community Safety team come together with young people,
community partners and other local supporters in recognising the achievements of those involved in the My Ends Partnership (Romford initiative).
Also in attendance was Councillor Barry Mugglestone, Havering’s Cabinet Member for Community Safety, Councillor Oscar Ford, Havering’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People and Councillor Sue Ospreay, Mayor of Havering.
The evening opened with a speech from Lib Peck, Director of the London Violence Reduction Unit (VRU),
She praised the partnership’s commitment in helping towards creating safer and more positive opportunities for young people across the borough.
Her message highlighted the importance of long term collaboration and community led initiatives in helping to reduce crime and in addition, focusing on supporting youth development.
Launched in 2024 and funded by The Mayor's Office for Policing And Crime (MOPAC) through the London VRU, the My Ends Partnership has delivered a wide range of free youth activities.
This has been focused on helping to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour in Romford Town Centre, offering safe spaces where young residents can build confidence, learn new skills, and strengthen their connections throughout the community.
The ceremony saw the following young people honoured for their outstanding achievements:
- Alfie Bailey – Outstanding Participation
- Brandon Kangave – Creativity and Participation
- Calvin Adu-Poku – Community Care and Courage
- Josh Hart – Transformational Journey
- Tamara Walcott-Brown – Best Under 25 Young Person’s mentor
- Hannah Slater – Community Engagement
- Mason Jason Sweeney – Exceptional Engagement
- Robert Alexander Marshall - Exceptional Engagement
- Sean Kerry – Rising Resilience
- Rose Sullivan-McDaid - Rising Resilience
- Theodore Archer - Community outreach and confidence
- Kai Parkes-Mayes- Community outreach and confidence
Honorary Awards were also presented to:
- Simeon Dennis – Best Young Person’s Mentor
- Carrie Kendall- Best Young Person’s Mentor
- Majida Burch- Best Young Person’s Mentor
Each of the award winners received vouchers and gifts generously donated by fellow programme supporters, including Romford BID, NAMCO Funscape Romfordand Prescott Thomas.
Councillor Barry Mugglestone, Cabinet Member for Environment and Deputy Mayor of Havering said:
“The MyEnds Partnership continues to demonstrate the power of everyone working together in supporting our young people across the borough and giving them the chance to stand up, have a voice and be someone in their community.
“It is helping to make them feel confident, be able to learn something that could help them in their future careers.
“It can also help them to have the skills to help them become a part of the community where they live, go to school or college and may also work.
“We are incredibly proud of the achievements of all participants and grateful to our partners and sponsors who make this work possible.”
Guests also enjoyed a dinner and were treated to an acoustic performance by a young local musician, showcasing creativity and talent which has been nurtured through the partnership’s activities.
The event concluded with a closing speech from the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Sue Ospreay, who congratulated everyone for their achievements and thanked all the partners for their dedication.
As well as support from the Council’s community safety service teams and external emergency services, including the police, there are also creative and sports-based programmes delivered by partners like Youth Unity, Box Up Crime, AIR Network, Third Space Youth, Kaleidoscope and YouThrive.
The Council thanked organisations, youth workers, volunteers, and community members who have contributed to the programme’s success.
