Havering Council has published the results of its latest High Rise Resident Engagement Survey.

The findings show that the majority of residents living in the Council’s tall residential buildings feel well informed, understand safety communications, and know how to respond in the event of an emergency.

The survey, which ran from December 2025 to January 2026 provides an encouraging picture of how effectively important building‑safety information is being shared with our high‑rise residents.

A key highlight of the survey is that over 90% of residents say the information they receive is easy to understand, demonstrating continued progress in delivering clear, accessible updates.

In addition, 60% of residents feel they receive “just enough” information about their building - a strong endorsement of the Council’s current communications approach.

Only 3.8% felt they received too much.

These results will help shape future engagement, ensuring updates reach residents in the formats they find most useful.

Feedback was broadly positive, and the survey also highlighted clear opportunities for improvement.

The survey also found that whilst most residents understand the correct steps to take in a fire emergency, 28% of households include someone who may need assistance evacuating, underlining the need for tailored support and individual plans.

This has further helped the Council to identify and take the steps necessary to help our residents that require further support.

Havering Council is committed to using this feedback to improve how it engages with high‑rise residents. With most residents showing clear preferences for written communication and demonstrating strong awareness of safety procedures, the survey provides a solid foundation for future engagement work.

Cllr Paul McGeary, Cabinet Member for Housing Property, said:

“We are pleased to see such strong levels of understanding and engagement in this year’s survey.

“Residents’ feedback is vital in helping us continue to improve building safety, our communications to residents and to help us make sure everyone feels informed, supported and safe in their homes.”

The Council will continue working closely with residents to address the areas identified for improvement, including raising awareness of the Building Safety Act and supporting households with additional needs.
