Havering Council has completed a significant upgrade to the children’s play area at St Helen’s Court.

The completed works have improved the recreational facilities for local families and ensuring the space better meets the needs of children of all ages.

The improvements, funded through the Capital Play Site Improvements budget, include the installation of seven new pieces of play equipment alongside existing items.

The redesigned layout makes far better use of the available space, while ensuring a balanced mix of equipment suitable for both toddlers and older children.

Engagement between local ward councillors, residents and the Housing Management Team as well as the partnership with Mears, meant a design that maximises play value while maintaining the surrounding green space for wider community use.

Councillor Paul McGeary, Cabinet Member for Housing Property, said:

“We’re pleased to deliver these improvements to the St Helen’s Court play area.

"The new layout provides a more engaging and inclusive space for children, while ensuring that the surrounding green areas remain available for all residents to enjoy.

"We look forward to seeing local families benefit from these enhancements.”

Looking ahead, the Council will continue to evaluate where future play investment may be most beneficial across the borough, with ongoing assessments to help identify opportunities to upgrade other sites in due course.

The upgraded St Helen’s Court play area is now open for use, offering a brighter, more accessible, and more enjoyable environment for local children and families.
