Havering is flying the Armed Forces flag to mark the beginning of Armed Forces Week.

The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, raised the Armed Forces flag at a ceremony outside Havering Town Hall, Romford, on Monday 22 June 2026.

The annual celebration gives thanks to the dedication of our armed forces, who serve to keep us all safe.

The armed forces events are also an opportunity for everyone to show their support for the men and women of our forces past and present.

Havering will once again show appreciation this Armed Forces Day, Saturday 27 June 2026, with a parade starting at 10.30am on South Street's junction with Arcade Place, finishing at Havering Town Hall, Romford.

Among those marching will be currently serving troops, veterans and cadets, and Service families.

This year’s Armed Forces Day Parade is being supported by Elm Site Services.

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, said:

“It is an honour to raise the Armed Forces flag today in tribute to His Majesty’s Armed Forces as it stands as a powerful reminder of the vital contribution of our troops.

“From those currently serving, to veterans, cadets and service families, we recognise the sacrifice, dedication and courage shown every day.

“Their commitment to protecting our nation, often at great personal risk, should never be forgotten.

“Havering’s appreciation for our armed forces remains as strong as ever, and flying this flag is a visible demonstration of our support for all servicemen and servicewomen across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.”

Mick Steel, Director, Elm Site Services, said:

“Elm Site Services are proud to support Havering’s Armed Forces Day Parade on Saturday 27 June.

“It is vital that we recognise the immense contribution our armed forces have made, and continue to make, in protecting our country.

“This event is an opportunity to show our gratitude and honour their dedication and sacrifice.”
