Havering has marked Reserves Day (Wednesday 24 June 2026) as part of Armed Forces Week 2026.

The Council’s Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Alex Donald, and Champion for Veterans, Cllr Luke Barry, joined the Mayor of Havering, Cllr Maggie Themistocli, outside Havering Town Hall, Romford, to pay tribute to the contribution of our Reserve Forces.

The Reserve Forces make up approximately one sixth of our Armed Forces personnel and as such are integral to protecting the nation’s security at home and overseas.

Cllr Alex Donald, himself a Royal Air Force Reservist in 600 (City of London) Squadron, paid tribute to the dedication, professionalism and commitment of Armed Forces reservists who often go unrecognised in their efforts in balancing their civilian careers with military service and supporting operations in the UK and overseas.

Cllr Donald, Armed Forces Champion, Havering Council, said:

“Havering Council proudly recognises the dedication of our Armed Forces reserves, who selflessly balance their careers, families, and service to our country.

“We value their contribution, support their commitment, and celebrate the vital role they play in keeping our nation safe.”
