Hundreds of residents turned out for Havering’s Armed Forces Day celebrations (Saturday 27 June 2026) to show their appreciation to currently serving troops, veterans and cadets, and Service families.
The Mayor of Havering, Cllr Maggie Themistocli, was joined by the Council’s Armed Forces Champion, Cllr Alex Donald, Champion for Veterans, Cllr Luke Barry, Deputy Lieutenant for Havering, Nick Bracken OBE, Yeoman Warder for Historic Royal Palaces, Jimmy James, and the Leader of the Council, Cllr Keith Prince AM, for the annual Armed Forces Day parade, which was supported by Elm Site Services.
Following the parade, The Mayor of Havering, Cllr Maggie Themistocli, shared a speech that gave thanks to the dedication of our armed forces.
Mayor of Havering, Cllr Maggie Themistocli, said:
“Armed Forces Day is an opportunity for Havering to show their support for the men and women of our armed forces past and present.
“From those currently serving, to veterans, cadets and service families, the sacrifice, hard work and courage our armed forces show in risking their lives to keep us safe should never be forgotten.
“The armed forces rightly hold a special place in our hearts, and the borough continues pay tribute to all servicemen and servicewomen across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.
“Thanks to Elm Site Services for supporting this year’s parade and helping Havering honour our armed forces once again.”
