Residents are invited to come together at Remembrance services across the Borough on Sunday 8 November 2026, to honour the courage, service and sacrifice of those who have defended our nation.

The Remembrance parades and services will provide an opportunity for communities to unite in Remembrance and pay tribute to the men and women who have served in our Armed Forces.

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Maggie Themistocli, said:

“Remembrance Sunday is one of the most important and poignant occasions in our national calendar.

“It is a time when we stand together, united in gratitude, respect and remembrance, to honour those who gave their lives so that we may live ours in freedom.

"Across generations, brave men and women from Britain and the Commonwealth have answered the call to serve, displaying extraordinary courage, selflessness and devotion to duty.

“Their sacrifices helped shape the freedoms, democracy and way of life we are privileged to enjoy today.

“We must never take those freedoms, or the price paid for them, for granted.

"As Mayor of Havering, I am immensely proud of our Borough's longstanding commitment to honouring our Armed Forces, our veterans and those who continue to serve our country with distinction.

“Remembrance is not simply about looking back. It is about ensuring that the stories of courage, sacrifice and service are never forgotten, and that future generations understand the true cost of the freedoms they inherit.

"I warmly encourage residents of all ages to join us this Remembrance Sunday, to stand shoulder to shoulder as one community, to reflect, to remember and to pay our respects.

"We owe a debt of gratitude that can never truly be repaid. The very least we can do is ensure that their sacrifice is never forgotten.

"We will remember them.

"I would also like to express my sincere thanks to Elm Site Services for their generous support of this year's Remembrance events across Havering.”
