Heart and Soul, the new venue at 80-84 Market Place, Romford, has officially opened for business, after being taken over by new operator, KingsHeart.

The re-opened venue will offer live music and open mic nights, as well as a host of creative events. Complete with a professional sound, stage and lighting set up, and a baby grand piano, the venue will be a welcoming cultural hub for the people of Romford to enjoy.

Heart & Soul features a new bar and coffee facilities, as well as the existing and popular pop-up kitchens featuring award-winning Indian food, artisan pizza and a brand new gourmet burger menu.

In addition to the entertainment venue, Heart and Soul will continue to house a number of small businesses and start-ups in its first-floor office space, providing a nurturing environment for emerging enterprises in the borough.

Havering Council stepped in to safeguard the businesses housed at 80-84 Market Place in January 2019 until a new operator could be found.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“The Council is committed to supporting and empowering our businesses and communities. Through our regeneration programmes and town masterplans, we are ensuring that future development and investment puts the borough and its residents first.

“But maintaining a thriving community begins with places like Heart and Soul – a vibrant venue for creativity, culture and social spirit. I am excited to see what the future holds for them and wish them the very best of luck.”

KingsHeart have a strong track record in running another premises, holding community events and mentoring businesses to help them grow.

KingsHeart’s Steve Kitchen said:

“The team here at Heart & Soul are thrilled to partner with the Council and hope to build on the unique feel and spirit of the venue. Our vision it to be a little oasis in the heart of Romford market, and we’d like to invite members of the community to help us achieve this.

“We’re beginning our live events immediately, with popular Motown band ECHO, a live singer and pianist, and our friends from PMT Romford hosting an open mic evening. Follow us on Facebook, or visit our website for details on upcoming events.”
