Havering elects new Mayor in virtual vote

Havering has a new Mayor following the Annual Council meeting on Wednesday 10 June.

Councillor John Mylod, who represents St Andrews ward, was elected to be Mayor of Havering for 2020/21 having served the last year as Deputy Mayor. He was first elected to Havering Council in 1994 and previously served as Mayor of Havering in 2005/06.

Councillor John Mylod will be joined by his wife Patricia as Mayoress for the year. Patricia was previously a councillor in Upminster for 20 years.

He becomes the first Mayor of Havering to be elected through a virtual vote due to the restrictions put in place by the Coronavirus crisis.

Councillor Christine Vickery, who represents Havering Park ward, has been named as Deputy Mayor.
