Mayor of Havering re-elected for second year

Published: Wednesday, 28 April 2021

Councillor John Mylod has been re-elected as Mayor of Havering following the Annual Council meeting on Tuesday 27 April 2021.

Councillor Mylod, who represents St Andrews Ward, was elected to be Mayor of Havering in June 2020. He will continue to serve as Mayor for 2021/22.

Disruption from the Covid 19 pandemic has made many of the Mayoral engagements, including fundraising and community events, much more difficult.

Councillor Christine Vickery, who represents Havering Park ward, has also been re-elected as Deputy Mayor.

Councillor John Mylod, Mayor of Havering, said:

“It’s a great honour to have been re-elected as Mayor of Havering. My time as Mayor has been very humbling.

"Seeing how residents in the borough have pulled together to combat Covid 19 has been inspiring.

“Unfortunately the pandemic has made it much more difficult to support and raise money for my chosen charities, organisations that are very close to my heart.

“I am incredibly grateful for being elected for a second year.

"I am excited to continue championing the brilliant work of St Francis Hospice, Clowns In The Sky, and the Rainbow Trust, as well as the wonderful residents and businesses around the borough.

“I look forward to working with Councillor Christine Vickery as Deputy Mayor for a second year.”
