Council puts on parade for Hornchurch FC as football comes home to Havering

Havering Council has rolled out an open top bus for Hornchurch FC to parade the FA Trophy after an historic win last season.

The bus will be touring Upminster and Hornchurch this Sunday, 8 August, to celebrate their victory.

The tour will start at 2pm at Hornchurch FC's stadium on Bridge Avenue, Hornchurch, and will end at the new Harrow Lodge Leisure centre at approximately 3pm.

Fans saw their local club's first-ever trophy win back in May when they beat Hereford 3-1 at Wembley Stadium and the victory parade comes after all Covid 19 restrictions were relaxed on 19 July 2021 as part of the government road map.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“We want to celebrate and congratulate the team on their historic win.

"It’s a pleasure to organise this victory parade for the team and their staff, as well as giving residents and football fans an opportunity to show their support for the team ahead of the new season.

“We want residents to share in this victory on Sunday, but we must remember Covid 19 is sadly still with us.

"We have made sure the parade route is long enough for everyone to find a spot to cheer the team on, but to remain safe while doing so.

"I invite everyone to join us along the route to celebrate this fantastic victory for Hornchurch FC and for sport in Havering.”
