If you live in a flat that is part of a large block, it is most likely that you will have a communal bin collection.

Flats that have been made out of smaller buildings, such as an old semi-detached house, or maisonette in style, are more likely to have what we call a kerbside collection.

Check what collection you have

Kerbside sack collections

If you live in a flat with a kerbside collection, then your recycling (orange) and rubbish (black) sacks will be collected together at the same time, but placed into separate compartments on the waste collection vehicle.

Communal bin collections

If you live in a flat with communal rubbish and recycling bins, the bins will be collected separately. Please make sure that the recycling (orange) and rubbish (black) sacks are placed into the correct bins, which are clearly marked.

If you have this type of collection, you cannot leave your household batteries, small electricals, textiles and coffee pods out for collection.

You can recycle them by following the instructions in our recycling locator.

You can also recycle batteries and small electricals at Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre.
