Over the past century, human activity has rapidly increased the production of greenhouse gases leading to a 1ºC rise in global temperatures.
This change in temperature is already leading to more frequent and extreme weather events in Havering, such as flooding and the tragic fires seen in Wennington in the summer of 2022.
In 2018 The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC) declared the need to limit global temperature rise to 1.5ºC.
A temperature rise of 2ºC would have a devastating impact on our food and water supply, human life and economic growth.
