Single resident discounts
If you are the only occupant of your property over 18 then you can get a 25 percent discount.
You'll need to have a My Haveing account and then register your council tax account to use this online form. Find out how to manage your Council tax online.
To make sure that the single resident discount is being claimed correctly, we are checking the households where a single person discount is currently awarded.
If you have received a single resident discount review letter and form please read the instructions carefully and either return the paper form to the address specified or complete it online.
You will need your Council tax account number and unique identifier number shown on your review letter ready to continue.
People not counted for Council tax
If there are other adults in the property with you then you may still be eligible for a 25 percent discount. Here are some residents who are disregarded for Council tax purposes:
- full time students
- people in prison
- residents in nursing homes
- residents that are registered severely mentally impaired
- non-British spouses of students
It is possible to have more than one of the above in your property and still get a discount. For example a single parent with two adult students could still get the discount.
