Finalists announced for Small Business Awards

Published: Thursday, 3 February 2022

Havering residents have named their finalists in the first annual Havering Small Business Awards.

The final voting round for the community-led awards, which give members of the public the chance to shine a spotlight on their favourite Havering Small Businesses, begins next Monday (7 February 2022).

Havering Council received over 3,000 nominations throughout the two-week nomination period, with more than 250 individual small businesses put forward for awards.

There are three finalists for each category, all of which reflect the wide variety of small businesses across the borough.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“We have been completely bowled over by the fantastic public response to these awards, and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to recognise their favourite Havering small businesses.

“I’m also thrilled with the range of businesses that have been nominated – anything from beauty salons and restaurants, to gaming groups and a hotel for cats.

"It just goes to show how great of Havering is to do business.

“I can’t wait to find out who wins each category, so please do take a couple of minutes to vote for your winners over the next few weeks, and give these extra special businesses that recognition they deserve.”

Julie Frost, Director the Romford Business Improvement District, key sponsor for the awards, said:

“Romford BID would like to thank the literally thousands of people who took the time to vote for their favourite businesses.

"We were particularly pleased to see a good number of the many fantastic Romford businesses represented among the nominations.

“Now we would like to encourage everyone to get behind our finalists and vote for their favourites prior to the closing date on 27 February 2022.

"After the last two years, this is such a boost to our small business community and we are delighted to be a key sponsor.”

Voting opens on Monday 7 February 2022, and closes at midnight on Sunday 27 February 2022.
