Havering council to provide school meals funding support for February half-term

Published: Friday, 5 February 2021

Havering Council will continue to fund the School Meal Holiday Scheme for those most in need during February half term.

From Monday 8 February, families will be able to apply for the £15 for each child in receipt of free school meals to support them while their school is closed.

The borough will run the scheme with the February application window opening at 9am on Monday 8 February and will close at 5pm on Friday 12 February.

Families who received a payment for the October half term and Christmas holiday period do not need to reapply and will automatically receive the funds into their nominated bank account by Friday 12 February.

Eligible families who make a new application in February and have not received payment via the School Meal Holiday Scheme in the past, are expected to receive payments over half term.

Councillor Damian White, Leader of Havering Council, said:

“Funding school meals once again over February half term is just one part of a comprehensive package of support we have put in place for vulnerable households, and especially those with children, to help them get through the difficult months.

“We remain fully focused on making sure residents and businesses get the help and assistance they need to see them through this crisis.”

For more information about the scheme and for details on the eligibility criteria, visit our School Meal Holiday Support page. The application form will be available on this page on Monday 8 February from 9am.

The Council also offers support for those who do not qualify for School Meal Holiday Scheme but still need help. Please see our Covid 19 financial advice page for details.
