Parking scam alerts

Watch out for bogus penalty charge SMS messages that are being sent out by scammers trying to get money fraudulently.

We do not contact via SMS messages for unpaid Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs), unless the penalty debt has been passed to an enforcement agent.

An enforcement agent will identify themselves in the SMS message and provide a contact telephone number to call and discuss the message with an agent.

A link for payment is never provided.

Watch out for bogus QR code signs that are being put on some parking machines by scammers trying to get money fraudulently.

We do not use QR codes for paid for parking in any of our car parks or on-street parking bays and please make sure you download parking apps from app stores and not QR codes.

View the RingGo video about how to safely download and use the app

We have been made aware of scammers impersonating enforcement officers and car parking officers.

These scammers are approaching parking customers advising them that their parking has not been accepted by the system or that there is an error in paying, and then asking for a payment or for you to input your PIN whilst taking your card.

Please remember our officers will never ask for payment or collect any money for parking directly from you.
