Parking service changes due to coronavirus

Our parking enforcement and permitting operations are subject to change due to coronavirus. Our car parks and on street parking is currently free. Read more

Car parks

We are providing free car parking for all customers during the coronavirus outbreak. This will help key workers, residents, those working from home, self-isolating to park in on-street bays and in council owned car parks without having to worry about cost or time restrictions.

The following locations have free parking for stays under 30 minutes. 

  • Hornchurch Road area
  • Upminster Bridge area
  • Cranham
  • Rainham
  • Elm Park
  • Collier Row
  • Gidea Park
  • Ardleigh Green
  • Harold Wood
  • Hilldene

Please be advised to check signs or parking meters nearby for specific charges. 

Parking for motorcyclists

Motorcycles are permitted to park free of charge in any available parking bay (motorcycle or car bays) located within our surface car parks and on-street Pay and Display areas. However, you cannot park for free on meter bays or in Angel Way Multi-Storey Car Park, Romford.

Parking for Blue Badge holders in our car parks

Blue Badge holders must pay for parking unless the vehicle is exempt from road tax and has a tax classification of 'Disabled' in which case three hours free parking is allowed with normal charges applying after three hours.

Park Mark Award

Six of the our car parks have achieved Park Mark Award status for safer parking facilities.
These sites are recognised for having:
  • quality management
  • appropriate lighting
  • effective surveillance
  • clean environment

We will be reviewing all other council car parks throughout the borough.
