Waiting lists
If your child isn't offered a place at your preferred schools, their name will likely be added to a waiting list.
Here's what you need to know about how these lists work.
School waiting list duration and reapplication
Waiting lists are held for 1 school year.
If your child still hasn't been offered a place from the waiting list by the end of the school year, you'll need to complete a new online application if you wish for them to remain on the list.
It's your responsibility to remember to reapply.
Who manages school waiting lists?
The Havering School Admissions Team maintains the waiting lists for most schools in Havering.
For schools that require a Supplementary Information Form (SIF), our Admissions Team holds a list of interested applicants.
We then work with the school to ensure that places are offered to the correct child based on that school's specific admissions criteria.
Havering is not responsible for waiting lists for schools located outside of our borough.
If you've applied for schools elsewhere, you'll need to contact those individual schools or their Local Authority to understand their waiting list procedures.
How school waiting lists are ranked
Priority on a waiting list is not given based on the date your application was received or when your child's name was added to the list.
Instead, waiting lists are ranked strictly according to each school's admissions criteria.
This means your child's position on a waiting list can change, moving both up and down.
For example, if another child with a higher priority (like living closer or having a sibling at the school) is added to the list, they'll be placed above your child, even if they applied after you.
