Business to be investigated after selling vape liquid to under 18 year-old
Havering Council’s Trading standards will be carrying out further investigations with a Hornchurch business, after vape liquid was sold on its premises to a person under 18.
Over £13,000 worth of illegal tobacco and shisha seized
Havering Council’s trading standards officers seized £13,950 worth of illegal tobacco and shisha from an Upminster business recently.
Landlord fined over £5K for “unsafe” property
A Havering landlord has been fined £5,335 for breaching licensing conditions at a Romford property, for issues that were risking the health and safety of the tenant.
Business fined over £8,000 for failing to remove waste
A business has been prosecuted and fined £8,474 for failing to maintain, remove and legally dispose of all waste from their land.
£36,000 worth of illegal vapes and tobacco seized
Around £36,000 worth of illegal vapes and tobacco has been taken off the borough’s streets thanks to work by Havering Council’s trading standards teams.

From October to December 2024, our environmental enforcement team:
- received 1,196 reports of fly tipping
- carried out 861 investigations
- issued 221 Fixed Penalty Notices
- achieved 3 successful prosecutions in that time, with fines totalling over £5,000
