Draft Children and Young People Education Place Planning Plan

We are consulting on the Draft Children and Young People Education Place Planning Plan 2023 – 2027, which also includes the Draft Childcare Sufficiency Report, until 15 May 2023. You can pick up a consultation questionnaire from any library or children’s centre or you can view the draft documents and have your say online

Pupils with special educational needs

Some children find it much harder to learn and make progress than other children of the same age and may need extra help in school.

It is estimated that one in five children will have special needs at some time during their school life and most of these needs can be met through careful planning. This may include changing how lessons are taught and/or extra support being provided by the school.

Outside professionals

Sometimes a school will need to ask for extra advice from outside professionals such as:

  • The Child and Community Psychology Service
  • Social Communication Service
  • Learning Support Service
