About the Havering Youth Justice Service

Youth Justice Service

Youth Justice Service, 10 Hedley Close, High Street, Romford RM1 1AH

Havering Youth Justice Service takes a child-first, trauma informed approach.

This means that children and young people are at the heart of what we do and are central to our service delivery to ensure they have the right support to promote a pro-social life.

We work with young people under 18 who have got into trouble with the law or have been involved in anti-social behaviour, helping them make positive changes and reduce the likelihood of future offending.

The aims and objectives of the service are to:

  • prevent offending and re-offending from children aged between 10 and 17 years
  • support children and their families to address the factors that lead to offending behaviour
  • encourage and support young people to help them maximise their potential and enhancing their future prospects
  • support children and their families at court
  • supervise children on their Orders, whether statutory or on a diversion programme
  • support children who have been sentenced or remanded to custody
  • work with victims of crime

We take a multi-agency approach working with partners including:

  • Children's Social Care
  • Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS)
  • Havering Young People's Drug and Alcohol Service (WizeUp)
  • National Probation Service
  • Speech and Language (SALT)
  • Local police

Our aim is to help reduce offending and create safer communities with fewer victims.
