Clamped vehicles

A fine is not always a sufficient deterrent to prevent illegal parking. We may also use vehicle clamps to immobilise vehicles.​

We do have the authority to relocate your vehicle if it is parked causing an obstruction, however it is more likely that you will be issued with a Penalty Charge Notice.

If your vehicle has been clamped, you will need to follow the release instructions left on the vehicle.

The clamp release charge and fine (Penalty Charge Notice) must be paid before the vehicle is released.

You are entitled to appeal after you have paid the relevant parking fine and release charge.

Vehicles towed away

In other cases where the illegally parked vehicle is causing an obstruction or where the owner has not paid for release of a clamp, the vehicle may be removed and taken to our vehicle pound.

We may also remove vehicles from persistent offenders who flout the law and do not pay their parking fines (Penalty Charge Notices).​

You can telephone the TRACE service on 0300 077 0100 (freephone), who will advise you where the vehicle has been taken and how much the release fee is. You can also text the word “TRACE” followed by your Vehicle Registration Mark to 66663, please note charges may apply for the text service. • release from the pound - £200
• storage fee per day - £40
• disposal - £70
